Subject: Newark Concert.

Message: Morning,
Just thought I'd drop a line to say how much both my wife and myself enjoyed last night's gig in Newark. What a great concert, the 2 hours or so you were on stage was probably the most enjoyable and relaxed couple of hours I have spent in a concert. What a really professional and tight performance. Well done to you all. I hope to catch up when you visit Boston later in the tour.

Standing ovation for supergroup

By Newark Advertiser - Leisure Feed

A supergroup performed classic hits from the 1960s to the 1980s when five world-class musicians graced the stage.

The Reflections played songs made famous by 10cc, The Moody Blues, The Hollies, The Manfreds, War Of The Worlds and Sir Cliff Richard at the Palace Theatre, Newark, on Saturday.
They sounded like the real thing but it is not surprising as all the musicians have been, or are still, members of those groups.
The Reflections were put together by Moody Blues drummer Gordy Marshall and feature Mick Wilson from 10cc as singer and guitarist, Paul Bliss from The Moody Blues on keyboards, Marcus Cliffe from The Manfreds as bass guitarist and Huw Davies from War Of The Worlds on lead guitar.
You could tell they enjoyed playing their music and people got up to dance, rocking in the aisles.
Mick has a lovely clear voice and excelled in Wall Street Shuffle, I’m Mandy, Fly Me, King Midas In Reverse, Dreadlock Holiday, Forever Autumn, Devil Woman, Nights In White Satin and I’m Not In Love. He is also an expert on the mouth organ.
Marcus showed he could sing with Pretty Flamingo, Do Wah Diddy Diddy and 5-4-3-2-1. Gordy spent the night drumming passionately and played piano to Miss You Nights.
Huw provided some raucous guitar riffs especially in War Of The Worlds. Paul, the musical arranger, also played guitar and provided backing vocals. They deserved their standing ovation. Hope they come back soon — DAB.

Tivoli Theatre Wimborne

19-06-2014

A concert starring The Moody Blues, The Hollies, 10cc and The Manfreds would attract a stadium sized audience, but this is virtually what Tivoli folk

were treated to yesterday evening, with five world-class musicians from those bands coming under the umbrella of 'The Reflections'.

Drummer Gordy Marshall, who put the band together, was from The Moody Blues, keyboard player Paul Bliss from The Moody Blues and The Hollies,

Mick Wilson is lead singer of 10cc, bassist Marcus Cliffe from The Manfreds and guitarist Huw Davies from the War of the Worlds.

The band produced a heady mix of music with 10cc songs such as Rubber Bullets and I’m Not in Love, Hollies hits such as King Midas in Reverse

and He Ain’t Heavy, and Do Wah Diddy Diddy from The Manfreds.

And as Mick Wilson spent a couple of years touring with Sir Cliff Richard, he gave some really good renditions of Devil Woman,

We Don’t Talk Any More and Carrie.

If you closed your eyes, it would have been easy to imagine that you were listening to the original line-ups of these iconic groups.

However, this was no tribute band, but world-class musicians treating their audience - who were all on their feet at the end - to some of the best

and enduring songs from the past few decades.

Mick explained that it was incredibly difficult to choose the numbers as their collective catalogue was huge, but that they had done their best to include a variety.

So I will have to forgive them for not playing my favourite Hollies track - Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress - although Gordy had promised me

in an interview a couple of weeks ago that they would include it.

Judging by the audience reaction, 'The Reflections' will be more than welcome to make a return visit to the Tiv in the very near future.
